Organising Yourselves
- Set up a Twinning Sub-Committee
- The sub-committee should be accountable to the Church Council
- The programme should form an integral part of the church's annual programme
- The sub-committee should have its own budget within the church's annual budget
- It should have a Co-ordinator
- The Co-ordinator should not be the minister! Ministers have been known to take the link with them when they leave, but it is the Church that's twinned!
The Co-ordinator
- chairs meetings and delegates tasks
- does not do all the work!
- makes sure that
- arrangements for a visit are completed - names, money, transport, insurance,...
- the programme is planned - who's doing what and by when, what preparations are needed?
- the theme is understood - this might be the minister's main contribution
- the review is planned - maybe form a small review group
- the report is prepared - an editorial group can collect pictures, articles, stories, etc.
- the report is circulated - the editorial group sends it to the local paper and radio/TV stations
